Social Enterprise Day

Social Enterprise Day 20/11/08.

Social enterprises and NHS staff met at Penrith Co-op to gain a greater understanding of how they could work together in 2009. Social enterprises in the health and social care sector met in the morning to identify common issues and potential ideas for collaboaration. Over lunch, Cumbria NHS staff exaplained their roles and how the commissioning process worked. The event helped to clear up some confusion on commissioning and the definition of social enterprise. More importantly, it demonstrated that there was enthusiasm on both sides to look at new ways of working in a more “joined up way.” The only drawback was that there was not enough time to explore all the issues in depth.
